The Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands is participating in the INTERREG-MAC 2014-2020: SMART BLUE and NAUTICON projects, together with the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and the Port of Las Palmas, in the promotion of the Canary Islands Suppliers brand, the opening of the FIMAR 2019 International Maritime Exhibition and the presentation of the new Port Centre.

It’s the 9th edition of the International Fair of the Sea at the marketplace of the Canary’s and in the vicinity of the Santa Catalina quay. This fair is the regional reference in the maritime and nautical sector, bringing together 135 tent exhibitors this year, i.e. 75 companies, and offering more than 60 boats for direct sale.

On the other hand, the Port Centre will be a new space for the dissemination of the Blue Economy, with areas for training and for the creation and incubation of maritime businesses, for which the State will provide 2.5 million euros.

The centre will be located in the Port of Las Palmas Foundation Building, which is located between the El Muelle shopping centre and the Poema del Mar Aquarium, with 1500 square metres of space, where newly created companies dedicated to the sector will have their headquarters and develop their innovative projects and activities in these sectors.

This Project will make it possible in the short term to invest in business premises and vocational training to help maritime entrepreneurs develop competitive projects and position Gran Canaria as a reference centre in this sector.
