The Canary Islands Maritime Cluster, within the framework of the actions foreseen in the INTERREG-MAC 2014-2020 project: SMART BLUE, and as a part of the actions to promote the Canary Islands Suppliers brand, participates in the II INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING IN THE CANARY, organised by the company TBN.

The congress took place on 28th and 29th of March 2019, in the Gran Canaria Congress Palace (INFECAR), and was a meeting point for companies and professionals from various sectors: industrial, naval, aeronautical, tourism, construction, etc., related to maintenance and engineering.

It included speakers from different countries such as Panama, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Spain, Great Britain or Cuba, who told their experience on different topics related and maintenance.

Among the renowned international speakers is Abdiel Pérez, responsible for the dredging division of the Panama Canal and with long experience in the maintenance of this colossal infrastructure, in which he has been working in different positions since 1999. In addition to explaining how the maintenance of the canal is carried out, Pérez- who also gave a lecture on the 27th at the Club LA PROVINCIA about the canal and sustainable development reflected in the congress on the management of the technical and financial analyses that are necessary to improve the process. Carolina Altmann, director of an Uruguayan industrial consulting company, who spoke about the management of maintenance contractors, or Gerado Trujillo Corona, president of Pan American Committee on Maintenance Engineering, also participated in the congress.

This Congress was part of the 42nd International Atlantic Trade Fair (ATLANTUR).
