Cluster Maritimo de Canarias in the framework of its CLUSTERING project, included in the INTERREG-MAC 2014-2020 programme, receives the ESCA Silver Label certification from H.E. Mr. Pedro Ortega Rodríguez, Councillor for Economy, Industry, Trade and Knowledge of the Canary Islands Government, during the annual stocktaking event, which took place in the Canary Islands Federation of Latin Sailing, on 13th December.

This Silver Label has been issued by the European Secretary for Cluster Analysis (ESCA), and functions as an internationally recognised quality label, allowing regional strategic groupings to position themselves on the European cluster map and increase their visibility, offering them the opportunity to establish contacts with European counterparts to develop joint initiatives and create synergies.

This distinction to the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster, valid for two years, positively values the improvements undertaken and commitments made since obtaining the Bronze Label in February 2014 to strengthen their competitiveness and that of their companies.

The CMC is the first cluster in the maritime sector to obtain this award in Spain, and the third in Europe.

Vicente Marrero, president of the CMC expressed his enormous satisfaction for obtaining this award, and for the support he has received from all the administrations and institutions involved in the marine sector, and points out that the next challenge for the CMC will be to overcome the audit to obtain the next level with the Gold Label.
