The Canary Island Maritime Cluster, within the framework of the actions foreseen in the INTERREG- MAC 2014-2020 projects: SMART BLUE AND INTERPORT, and as a part of the promotion actions of the Canary Islands Suppliers brand, participates and collaborates in the organization of the congress MID ATLANTIC SHIP REPAIR & SUPPLY SUMMIT, led by the Las Palmas Port Foundation. The congress took place in the Alfred Kraus Auditorium, in Las Palmas de gran Canaria, from 4th to 5th April 2019, and was an opportunity for attendees to participate in top- level conferences on topics of interest to the sector as such as industry 4.0, Marine Renewable Energies or Implementation of LNG in the maritime environment, in an incomparable environment, as is the beach of Las Canteras and the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

An exhibition area and B2b meetings were also organised with international organisations travelling to the Canary Islands for this event. During the Inaugration, the president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas explained that the Port is “in the process of advancing in this dynamic”, since he understands that the economy 4.0 “ is the combination of two factors”, on the one hand referred to the need to generate a climate of trust an collaboration between “all links in the logistics chain” to then point the newest technologies to this climate of trust to “be more efficient” and “predict what will happen in the future” to be able to make the right decisions.

For his part, the president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, stressed the importance of learning about the experiences and the capabilities of the port, as well as “joining forces” to attract investment.

More than 500 people attended this international summit, and more than 300 meetings were held during the both days of its development. During the congress the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster intervened, presenting its international promotion brand, Canary Islands Suppliers, and highlighting its work in the internationalization of exporting companies and auxiliary service providers of the Canary Islands.
