The Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands participates, within the framework of the actions foreseen in the INTERREG-MAC 2014-2020 projects: SMART BLUE and INTERPORT, in a Commercial Mission to the French city of La Rochelle.

The objectives of the cluster in this mission have been, on the one hand, to carry out a joint international promotion of the Canary Islands for the development of activities related to sports and recreational sailing in a collaborative way with this French city, and on the other hand, to know about first-hand the operation and degree of development of this sector in France.

The Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands attended this mission together with the Territorial Director of the ICEX in the Canary Islands, the President of the Canary Federation of Latin Sailing, the Head of Unit of the Department of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as well as canary executives of Rolnautic, Yamaha Motor and Rodritol Alisios Sailing. Also, representatives of FEMEPA Y AENÁUTICA.

As part of the actions in which the Maritime Cluster participated to accomplish its objectives for the mission, are the meetings held with La Rochelle City Council, the Commercial Director of the Commercial Port of La Rochelle, the Director of one of the main repair companies of the Vieux Port Varadero, the representative of the French Atlantic Cluster, the Director of La Rochelle Marina, the Director of the main training centre in the nautical sector, as well as the assistance to the inauguration and visit Salon Nautique International to Flot Gran Pavois La Rochelle 2018.

From the Maritime Cluster, the result of this mission is highly valued, and it is hoped that many collaborative projects will come about in the near future between both regions.
